Happy Friday and cheers to the fun, long Labor Day Weekend ahead!

D.C. pretty much clears out during the month of August since the U.S. House and Senate take the whole month off for recess. It’s kind of like a grown-up’s summer: you get to leave work early, everything is pretty slow and there’s less traffic around town.

But since this weekend signifies the start of September, that also means things are going to start picking up again around D.C.

Some of my best friends from college are coming into town this weekend – and we have a few fun things planned. It’ll surely be a great way to spend the last week of summer recess!

As the week comes to an end, I wanted to round up a few things from the past week or so that I’ve been loving.

Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liquid Eyeliner – I’ve basically worn winged eyeliner since sophomore year of high school. I used MAC’s liquid eyeliner religiously for 5+ years; and though I’m still a big fan of it, I’ve recently switched to Kat Von D’s liquid eyeliner since I can pick it up at Sephora. Not only is the eyeliner easier to apply because of its pen applicator, it doesn’t smudge and the tip doesn’t dull with use. I just bought a refill and think it’s become my go-to liner!

Herschel Supply Co. Backpack – My boyfriend Drew and I are heading to Peru in eight days (who’s counting though?) to see Machu Picchu among other destinations. My mother recently purchased this cute Rebecca Minkoff backpack for her U.K. trip and inspired me to find a versatile backpack for my upcoming trip. Enter this Herschel backpack. At under $70, this sturdy backpack was an obvious pick for my upcoming South American vacation.

Casetify iPhone 8 Case – My old phone case finally fell apart a couple weeks ago. After looking everywhere for a stylish replacement, I finally settled on this cute Palm Springs print from Casetify. This Colorado girl loves the mountains on the case.

Podcast: To Live and Die in LA – As you may know, I’m a big fan of true crime books, TV shows and podcasts. I am always listening to podcasts – at work, at the gym and while getting ready in the morning. This week, To Live and Die in LA was recommended to me and I’ve already breezed through seven episodes. The podcast follows the disappearance of a young Hollywood actress and, through some great investigative reporting, makes startling discoveries. I think it’s definitely worth a listen!

This NYT Column – I love reading the New York Times, and their Work Friend column is a great read. This week’s column is entitled “Is My Millennial Co-Worker a Narcissist, or Am I a Jealous Jerk?” It’s definitely worth a read!

Makeup Bag – I’ve been on the hunt for a new makeup case to carry the products I use every day. I often work out before work and get ready in the gym in my office building. One of my favorite bloggers, Salty Lashes, posted this Louis Vuitton lookalike bag and I quickly ordered on Amazon! The bag is great quality and a cute design.

Favorite Books of 2019 (so far) – In case you missed my post from earlier this week, I shared a few of the best books I’ve read so far this year. I read at least one book a month and shared a few of my favorites from 2019 in this post.
