Well, folks, we’ve made it through another week! I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving with friends and family and plenty of your favorite fixings.
I’m in Benton, Arkansas visiting family and enjoying a nice reprieve from the bustling city life of Washington, D.C. I’ll do a whole post on my weekend a little later.
Until then, I thought I’d write up a few of the things I’ve been loving lately…
JW Pei Mock Croc Bag
One thing that I’ve really been loving recently is my new, trendy crossbody bag that was surprisingly cheap – $40.
I found this bag via a YouTuber, KarenBritChick, whom I really love. (sorry that was the most millennial sentence ever). She posts these awesome “What Everyone Is Wearing in NYC” vlogs that I adore and highly recommend that you check out. In one of her street style videos, she found a French woman wearing the gorgeous bag below. Now, you may know that I am admittedly a major Francophone and was probably convinced to buy this beautiful bag because a Frenchie thought it was cool.
But at $40 I couldn’t resist this JW Pei bag. The bag shipped from China so it definitely took awhile (around two weeks to deliver). But I’m so glad I have this bag. It’s a trendy silhouette and a beautiful, high quality fabric. It looks more expensive than it is and is perfect for every occasion – from grocery shopping to going out!
Stephen King’s The Shining
Okay, let me nerd out for just a second. If you’ve never read Stephen King’s The Shining you are majorly missing out. Now I’m sure you’ve watched Stanley Kubrick’s movie adaptation, but I’m here to tell you the book is just as good and very different.
I’ve always loved mystery and suspense novels and it’s surprising that I never got around to reading any Stephen King. In fact, I only picked up The Shining because I had an old copy of my dad’s laying around the house.
The book is addicting and enthralling. I quite literally read it walking down the street and on my lunch breaks because I couldn’t put it down. But my fascination didn’t stop there. After reading The Shining, I quickly sped through Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep in anticipation of the now released movie. Both the book and the movie are great.
Both novels are very much worth your time – take a break from the popular books of today and spend some time with this literary classic – you’ll be glad you did.
Glossier Solution
Now, skincare is always so hit or miss for me. Parts of my skin are really dry, some are oily and I have struggled with breakouts in my twenties. I plan on doing a larger post about some of my skincare favorites, but this $24 Glossier Solution tops the list.
What is this magical pink bottle you ask? It’s a chemical exfoliator, combining both BHAs (glycolic acid) and AHAs (salicylic + lactic acids) to gently remove the top layer of dead skin. The product can be harsh on my sensitive skin so I only use it every other day.
I’ve been using this product for two months now and it’s genuinely changed my skin. Not only has this chemical exfoliator left my complexion clearer, it has improved the texture of my skin.
DC Passport
I’m pretty excited for this next one – the Passport Program is a booklet that gets you 2-for-1 deals at local bars around town. It’s available in a handful of cities, including Washington, DC and Denver, CO.
A few of my friends have gotten these before and it’s always fun to discover new bars and restaurants around town.
NARS Concealer
My last pick for this week is NARS’ Radiant Creamy Concealer. I had previously been using cult favorite Tarte Shape Tape for concealer. Though it’s great and very high coverage, it was a bit too cakey for my taste.
NARS’s concealer is really bendable and gives a really beautiful finish. It covers blemishes and discoloration beautifully but doesn’t have the heaviness of other concealers.
Let me know if you check out any of the items listed here – I’d love to know your thoughts! What’s something you’ve been loving lately?
xx,
Cait
